Week 4

Paint Colors that Relieve Stress and Help You Relax and How your home's interior can make your stressful day seem less overwhelming.

……In a world that's moving faster than we can keep up with, it's important to find time to slow down, sit back, and relax. If you're constantly on the go—getting everyone out the door in the morning, dropping the kids off at school, working late, picking up the dry cleaning, grocery shopping, cleaning, taking the dog to the vet, getting your workout in, and cooking dinner for the family—then you're probably longing for at least 10 minute a day to relax. The good news is you won't have to travel far (although a beach vacation would be nice) to take a breather. You can do it in the comfort of your own home.
How? By choosing paint colors that are proven to boost your mood. Although there are only three primary colors, we use various mixtures to create millions of additional shades. And if you know what to look for, some of these hues can help you relax. Read on for 20 colors that will make your long and stressful day seem less overwhelming.

Blue is a very soothing color that helps calm our mind and reduces tension. It’s often used in bedrooms because of its ability to help people sleep. Choosing the right blue need to make sure that it’s soft, neutral, and restful.

The color violet stems from blue and when done right, it can bring inner balance and peace to our soul. Never choose a hue that’s going to seem too drab (has too much black in it) because it will create a cold environment.

Pink is another color that helps calm and bring peace into a room. In fact, Feng Shui believers use pink to soothe the energy in a room and keep it understated. Although pink is considered a feminine color that’s best in a baby girl’s nursery, the right tones of pink can look beautiful in just about any room.

Symbolizes nature. Green is very visually soothing and therefore allows to stay calm and refreshed. We often find ourselves most relaxed when sitting in a park or on our front porch because we’re surrounded by nature’s most beautiful colors. Bringing those colors inside could keep that same serenity in our home.

We think of grey as dull, boring, and maybe a little depressing. But the truth is grey can provide a very soothing and cooling presence. It’s also a very neutral color, it works well with all of our furnishings and art work that we currently own. The best part about grey paint is that it can be used in a variety of rooms; the kitchen, the living room, the den, the office, a bedroom, etc…..

reflection:

other than just knowing that colours can change mind or in the other way around, i understand that this article and the author strongly agree about the environmental colour is related to the presence of mind. This shows that it is supportive to my topic which is about colour as therapy.
