Communication Practice

Task c

Communication is the key of life and its priceless, especially to a designer.
As a start-up task for this task, our module leader read few articles from a selected book as we need to listen and do what we should do as a good listener.

a) The first article is about 'Branding'.

note:

- everyday vocab
- brand damages effects on company
- more than a logo or a name
- interface between company, audiences or in various ways
- tangible or non-tangible

b) 'Branding and Business'

note:

- define general marketing products
- deep understanding to/on business
- define the company position in market/ among competitors
- blueprint for the company, audiences or customers
- aspirations or aims

c) 'Branding and Society'

note:

- flexibility/ adoptibility on society/ global
- no re-brand / company
- adjustment / new marketing

- example:
 * Samsung cheaper in Europe (1990's) compared now
 * Sony preferable in Europe

All this notes are summarised as how I listened and understood, I have selected to jot down the most important note which seems to be a key point of the article.

For this start-up task, I clearly focused the article read by my module leader. A listener should be focused to the speaker as well as the speaker being clear in giving the information or speech. A clear and successful communication are depend to both speaker and listener.

Communication Practice

Task C

The art of a good communication comes with a great listening skill. These are five interactive listening tips (not limited to) are presented to help us to become a better listener.

1.) Paraphrase is writing note as we understand about what we listen.
=making our own note for our understanding, revision

2.) Repeat - re-saying or re-doing
= for a better and stronger reminding method

3.) Probe -  checking
=to ensure about what is the information about

4.) Clarify - asking something to understand more
= asking something on a specific matter where to make it clear and more understanding

5.) Remember - keep in mind about what is gained
= saving it and keeping it clear in mind without forgetting any single information

These are some of the main and most important elements of a communication. Changing knowledge or information involve many other skills other than just talking or delivering verbally or non-verbally.

Communication Practice

Communication Practice

Infographic

After some changes and re-positioning the icons in Illustrator, the artwork turned much interesting and bold in order as easier to identify the details. The progress were just changes of background color, re-positioned images and the layout orientation were changed.

My final Artwork of this task is this:

All the inspection and changes on make it better was with the assist and guidance from our module leader. All the critics and feedback were very helpful for me to understand my weakness in producing an Infographic Poster.

At the end of this task, what i learnt here is how to transform data or numerical details to a better form of work so that it can much easier for the audience to understand the content. Other than that, this visual communication method involves attractiveness more than just numerical in a chart or table. The involvement of colour are also a matter of attraction.

Communication Practice

Infographic

After ilustrating the hand drawn images of God and Goddess of Hinduism, I attached them into the poster that I have prepared for the infographic task.

After applying the same method for all the hand drawn arts, and after some changes in the background colour, the current Artwork looks like this.

This artwork seems to have some failure in the way of it is organised. A repair is required.

Communication Practice

Task B

Communications can lead to confusing interpretations and to emphasize the need for clarify when communicating.

For this task, we are expected to search 10 different quotes from different people off the web, book, and other available material and analyse all 10 of them. The problems are the main subject to be discussed for the aspect of communication.

A Quote  is something that is copied or re-said or highlighted by someone from an existing article, book or any type of text involvement.

Quote usually written by an author, philosopher, journalist, script writer or anyone in form of telling something new or something that might exist but long forgotten.

Communication Practice

Infographic
(progress)

As mentioned earlier, all this artworks are attached into Adobe Illustrator to be manipulated and transferred to my infographic task. For another part here, as for Lord Shivashakthi, I picked half face of Lord Shiva and another half of Lord Shakthi as how They usually show up. This, I have done it in Adobe Illustrator too. The other hand drawn art are also followed into the Illustrator.

Result and the progress in Illustrator of the hand drawn art work traced according to the lines and placed in the Infographic poster. During the manipulation, so many unwanted dots and lines appeared and those unwanteed parts are deleted to make the image and the content to be clean and bold.

Reflection of this task (progress) , so many things need to be valuated especially to the image so that it can perfectly fit to the final work as planned. Working tools in Illustrator seems to make an image or file to any form of art especially to Graphic form. *power of digital tools*

Communication Practice

Infographic

For my infographic topic which is ' Reincarnation of Lord Shiva and Shakti '....previously i was working by drawing my God and Goddess images in the most simplest form that i could present them in my Infographic work.

After Inking process of all my drawings, i start snapping pictures of them so that i can attach them in Adobe Illustrator to trace them in the Infographic poster. These the are the drawing result in image form....:

1)

Lord Kaali

2)

Lord Mahalaksmi

3)

Lord Saraswathi

4)

Lord Shakthi

5)

Lord Ramar

6)

Lord Nataraja

7)

Lord Shiva

8)

Lord Thurga

9)

Lord Krishna

Reflection :

From this task, I know a better way on how to simplify the complicated things by just taking the important part to be visualised. Other than that, even when the world goes following the latest and advanced technologies, the old method of informative and drawing skills are still essential.

Communication Practice

Infographic

On this task, my previous post was not completed. Now I have been doing my main part of the infographic which is refering my topic 'Reincarnation of Lord Shiva And Shakti' ...
As in the previous post, my infographic form was not the full finished. It was just designed focused on how it will look like. Then now, these the are progresses which will show the completion of my Infographic.

Where are the main content of the Infographic should be according to my idea. (refer red circular below). All those empty oval shaped polygon will be replaced with specific God and Goddess.

First, i started drawing them and by using my marking tools. i darkened the drawn work's outline so that it can be easily traced i the Adobe Illustrator  or Adobe Photoshop.

After drawing all the God and Goddess, I used the drawn artwork to trace the other imaginary. Then, when all is done, I started the Inking process. By using 0.6mm nip marker, i draw outlines to my lines so that they can easily appear in the Adobe software as i said earlier.

After going through this steps, scanning or snapping images of this art will be engaged in this task and further elaboration to specifically highlight all the small accessories and jewelleries  .....
This task is not fully completed. For now, this is what i have done. Lastly, what i see here is, majority of the skills which i have learnt in 2D Character Design and 2D Animation from previous semester are really very useful now for me.

Communication Practice

Task A

Communication in a different manner and how to communicate efectively. (Infographic)

Communications seems to be much important of an  art than a science. So, for this task here, art based communications are required to be displayed. Infographic is one of the many communication form used in design terms.

Task :
We are were asked to select a topic that to be shared in Infographic form as simple and clear to be understood.
For this task, I have selected Deities of Hindu which is the very basic Reincarnation of Lord Shiva and Shakti.

Lord Shiva and Shakti is a superior power of Hindu Deities, They both reincarnate in many form of other God and Goddess. The main 4 form after reincarnations are to be showed in this Infographic and some of Their weapons to be revealed together.

First of all, I spent time online searching information on Lord Shiva and Shakti. These two superiors reincarnate into many other Lord in the deities generation. After having clear identification of Them, i started drawing simple look of Lord Shiva and Shakti. Lord Shiva reincarnated into Lord Nataraja which is the Lord of Dancing. Then in another generation, he became Lord Krishna which is a charming personalised God among the Hindu Deities. Next is Lord Ramar, who is the most Loyal God and a sharp archerer. The fourth form is Lord Kaali which is half a form of Lord Shakti too.
Now for Lord Shakti is, Lord Mahalakshmi which is the God of richness, then, Lord Thurga which is the protector for the Ladies specifically. Third form is Lord Saraswathy which is the God of Musical.

Simple sketch of all the Gods together.

(to be uploaded soon)

Some images of the Deities for the identification progress of Their weapons and their main accessories on Them that might be used to visualise the differentiation.

Lord Shiva and Shakti standing together

Lord Krishna

Lord Ramar

Lord Nataraja

Lord Saraswathy

Lord Mahalakshmi

Lord Durga

Lord Kaali

1) After searching all this identity of each God and Goddess, i started to sketch and scan it, then i moved it into illustrator for editing...

2) After making simple sketches, my next approach in illustrator was on the weapons of the God and Goddess..:

3) After finishing the weapons, i worked on arranging it according to the characteristic of the Deities..:

Re-arrangement were required due to the flat form of design and the color which is not a good contrast that regarding to Deities.

4) For now this is the latest progress after editing the infographic layout, the scanned drawings are yet to be placed in the column due to some editing work on it.

Work is to be displayed soon and description will be updated...

Communication Practice

What is Infographic ?

'Interactive Information Graphic' this is what called Infographic. Infographic is a method of communication which so many things are included in it to deliver the message to the audiences.
In Infographic, attraction and interaction are used for the information transference.
The main consideration that i've understand in Infographic are:

Data visualisation :
the information or statistic that to be shown is visualised

Interactivity  :
the message that flows (human and human) effectively.

Communicative function :
Infographic purposes are to make viewers to catch up what is the information about easily. Additionally, a chart or a table which is complicated to be explained can be shown by designing it as Infographic.
