Museum Gallery and Heritage Studies

PAINTING
(Knowing better about Painting)

Other than just focusing on museums, galleries and heritages, paintings are also seems to be focused in our module especially to be helpful in future. Me and my peers visited SUHU Artspace to see painting and the medium of the painting.

Years ago, a research  before painting will be carried out as how we work now, the artist have to snap pictures, then scanning which is all done with no help of advanced tools. This might take some time for them to produce the outcome. Since so many advanced tools are exist, the old method is no more. Besides the previous research is like some waste of important element in the world(paper). Now, we snap a pictures, then evaluating the contrast, determining the textures and some important works are all in a mobile phone. So, it seems to be easier for us to start a painting. Other than mobile phones, computer of course will be handy for us to do all this important things but with the help of some app/ software.

Canvas is the first thing need to prepared if we are o start a painting. Painting on canvas is not compulsory, we can also paint on a sheet of any type of fabric or a big piece of paper. The quality are depend of the type of material selected to be painted on. Then, selecting the size of the frame is also important and the frame should be perfect shape so that we don't struggle due to imbalance during the process. For canvas matter, we can buy it at the art stationary or we can just make our own canvas if possible. Usually we can find three types of canvas which is absorbent canvas, oil canvas, and the universal canvas. These three canvases are different in their use. The absorbent canvas is mainly for tempera colors, oil canvas is for oil painting and the universal canvas is either for acrylic or oil paint (might be ok with all type of paint).

*the information were from Dr. Hushnaidi bin Abdul Hamid in SUHU Artspace

At the SUHU Artspace, there were some student's artwork too. It was Nando's , it's title. This practical student artwork was about a chicken and it's productivity which is egg.  The artwork is about food and the main menu list is the chicken, so he placed a crown on the chicken's head and he printed some 3D eggs and attached them to his artwork. There goes the productivity message for Nando's.
