Individual Design Project

Short analysis

According to system classification, Mantin’s system are religion, synagogues, shops, food, transportation, accommodation, profession, and etc. First of all, religion is a main factor that engages and involve in connecting all the systems found in Mantin.

Religion
There are Muslims, Bhuddist and Hindus. Moreover, there are a small group of Sikh in Mantin. There are synagogues (Hindu temple, Mosque, Buddhist temple and Gurdwara) for each religion in Mantin.
To break it into more in systematically according the division or mapping, Mantin can be segregated in so many ways and part by part as it has well planned infrastructures.

Architecture
In Mantin, there are architecture which were built more than 90 years. in the town of Mantin, there are few architecture which exist since 1919. Not only that, the designs and the criteria of each architecture in Mantin are totally different from one another. As Mantin's people is from different religion, they do have their specific synagogue for each religion. Moving on to more, the road system in Mantin is are well planned and it is built in very systematic way to ensure and avoid the traffic to get worse.

Food
This small town has variety food options according to their background too. Majority shops and restaurant in Mantin run by Bhuddist, then Muslims the least are the Hindus. There are also, Hindu-Muslim food restaurants available in Mantin. To add on, some operates for 24 hours a day.

These are the least points that I would say for now, there are more about the systems in Mantin and it is very important in point of seeing Mantin for a marketing purpose.

Individual Design Project

week 1
Systems

The first matter to be considered in a research is to observe and analyse the systems. A thorough analysis and observation on the area selected is important to know the systems. There are so many things around which contain systems depend on what scope it is looked.

This is my understanding about system:

·         Basic Principles:

-Everything is connected to everything else
-You cannot eliminate the observer
-Most truths are relative
-Most views are complementary

·         Defining Systems:

-Elements of a system description
-Example systems
-Purposefulness, openness, hardness

·         Describing systems:

-Choosing a boundary
-Describing behaviour

Interactive Design for Web Technology

Task:
Choose a web page, then analyse and describe about it.

The web page that I have selected to analyse for this task is the English Premier League's official webpage.
Link : http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb.html#

This is how the web site look like :

screenshot 1

These are my analysis:

screenshot 2

This page has the header and the footer which the colour of both header and footer are in Blue Black. The reason why blue is selected is because of it is the theme colour of  English Premier League. Only the header and footer part were given such a colour, the body is just a White coloured space, so that the text are readable for the viewers. Moreover, at the header part, images keeps rotating on the display part to avoid boredom.

screenshot 4

The bottom part of this has more links about football which is connected to the EPL matches. Besides, the font used are big and clear. The text colour are in white since the footer background is dark. Adding on it, the are membership link provided at the right side of the webpage.

screenshot 8

The page layout is divided into three on the body part of the webpage. Left part of the webpage is listed with headlines. The center part is full of news links with images and the following right part is a table of the EPL teams and their points achieved in the league. This page has least 'white space' on it but still it doesn seems to be much messy due to the planned layout and the way how interactive it is. The pages maintains consistency in colour, this is because the following pages of this website page are just same as the home page. Links are divided and direct to new page when it is click on so that the viewer doesn't have to see only text all the time.

To ensure that the text are clear in visual, the Arial typeface is selected in this webpage. In certain part, bold and bigger font were given to form text hierarchy.

 Conclusion of my analysis:

After knowing the principles of multimedia,  basic analysis on a webpage is easier for me go through. This webpage uses text and images equally on the layout. During my exploration of this website, I had never feel confused of the contents. Overall, this is a good and well planned website.

Interactive Design for Web Technology

 Multimedia design Principles

My understanding on Multimedia design principles:

1. White space
-the blank/ free area that breaks the caption or image
-might be any color

2. Balance
- equal and stable layout on the site that never make the viewer to feel that another part of the site has  more contents
- contents are correctly positioned

3. Visual weight (Contrast)
- differentiating the important parts by using better visual to highlight
- by creating visual hierarchy (headline news font on news paper bigger and clear )

4. Colours
- use appropriate colour according to the target audience or according to the site's subject
- brighter colours for excitement, cool colours for cool and soothing.

5. Movement and flow
- attraction; using moving features on screen to attract viewers
- content managed according to perfect sequence

6. Layout rule
- content to be managed by dividing page 1/3 : 2/3
- one side of the page may have smaller are of content and bigger for the remaining.

7. Simplicity
- putting only important contents on page
- avoid messiness and confusion
- important things as first priority

8. Consistency
- maintain colour (theme)
- avoid different colours on each page

Reflection:
This principles are the main facts to be considered in multimedia design. To construct a page  in perfect order, this is very important as it will pay on the result and feedback of the site and for the design company's success.
