Academic Skills

Instruction : Form a group and make a short movie by a theme of  ‘Mantin’.

Story :

Mantin is small town which is always busy all the day. This small town is just the same in situation and busy during day and night mainly at the road side. The movie was taken at the main town part, temples and some of the clips are outcomes of stop motion pictures.Enjoy watching it.

MOVIE :

We had a good time during preparing this movie. It was quite interesting and challenging. It was so good to work with my colleagues. Good cooperation and feedback from my group mates.

REFLECTION

Skills development

Writing for designer module helped in improving skills such as interpreting pictures of magazines, all types of advertisements, quotes and statement. Tasks in this module improved grammars and vocabulary.

Application installation skills

Some task in this module needs the applications of software such as Adobe Photoshop. This installation helped me to learn new appliances which is essential for a designer.

Leadership and group work skills

Certain task in this module done in a group effort. Working in group practices working skills of a designer working in a big group. Taking responsibilities as a leader is a great challenge and a practice of handling jobs in every single situation.

Presenting skills

Each task submission in this module is through presenting it among students. This is due to improve presentation skills for students. Languages and body languages is  important and it is essential in presenting skills.

Each student should bring an item of food that represents their origin.

This is Sarawak Laksa.
this food was brought by Emily which represents her that she is from Sarawak.
ingredients : rice noodles, traditional spices and some shrimp paste.
texture : little moist
taste : tasty,like indian curry. combination of rice noodles and shrimp paste was really good.

This is Fried Rice from Alexis (Sabah) . she could not cook a food that represents her because she could not find some of the ingredients needed.
ingredients : rice, anchovies, vegetables, some spices, long beans
texture : dried but good to eat
taste : anchovies and the long bean gave a good taste.delicious

This is Kesari brought by Satish (me).
This food represents that i'm a Hindu. 
ingredients : Sugee flour, ghee, raisins, cashew nuts
texture : soft and slightly sticky
taste : little sweet.delicious

This is Pecal (Jawa) brought by Aisyah. This food represents her that she is a Jawanis Muslim.
ingredients : peanut paste, noodles, bean sprout, kale vege, lime leave, long beans
texture : moist and creamy
taste : little sweet, little spicy and the combination of lime leave with peanut paste was great.delicious

This is Chinese Green Tea by Xu Hui, that represent that she is a chinese from China.
ingredients : water, an unknown dried leave
taste : bitter
(good for health especially for inner organs)

This is  Salted Egg Tau Fu by Miss Nadyra. This food represents that Miss Nadyra is a mix cultured person.
ingredients : yolk of a preserved salted egg, bean curd (tau fu), spices,sesame oil
texture : moist and soft
taste : slightly salty and slightly creamy with the taste of the yolk. delicious

This is a Persian food by Samira which is called Ghormeh Sabzi . This food represents that she is a Persian. (Iranian)
ingredients : spinach, red bean, meat, oil
texture : soft and moist
taste : raw taste of the spinach but well cooked and tasty.Combination of the red bean and the blended spinach was good.delicious

All had a great time by having a chance to taste different type of food. Its good to know different type of food.

What i think about the book 'An Illustrated Life' :
Drawing inspiration from the private sketch book of artists, illustrators and designers.

The book is about :

• sketches and a artwork of an artist
• how they see and connect to social life
• their point of view towards social
• how social life encouraged in doing something new
• what kind of problems that an designer has gone through

What i get from the book is :

• how should an illustrator experiment/research on social life
• how is the starting point of a designer through social facts
• how to express our view by sketching and drawing (release tension)
• sketches benefits in future more than time being

More than 150 authors included their stories of life in illustration in his book.
